Poetry Corner – My C’s by Fikayo Balogun

My C’s

The Sea

The C

You see,

I can’t see,

I just went

blind.

I don’t mean

blind

for my window,

it’s hard

to even say it,

blind.

It wasn’t

a Christmas present,

everything

just went

white,

like a board of

snow.

That’s it

snow,

and it wasn’t even

Christmas.

I’ll see

soon

and when I see,

you’ll see.

I’ll run

down

to the sea

and breathe in

the smell

of the sea

that I now see.

You see,

the sea does

smell,

but you wouldn’t

know that.

You’ve forever

been seeing,

oh

it’s almost

a sin

to now think

of not seeing

beside the sea.
